The Schoolcraft County Environmental Laboratory trail system is located, a few miles east of Manistique. This system is on 80 acres that was donated by Manistique Township and includes 7 loops totaling 1.79 miles. This hiking trail is also ideal for snowshoeing in the winter.

The Environmental Lab includes a wooden platform overlooking the Jamestown Slough, a wetlands boardwalk trail, and trails through several forest types. There are color coded trail markers and interpretive signs and an outhouse at the trailhead.

The lab was built to provide environmental education oportunities for the local schools and general public. It contains a wide variety of flora, fauna, topography, soils and stages of succession.

To get to the trail system from Manistique, go east on US-2, turn left (North) on CR-433, and then turn left on Krummich Rd. (West). The roads curves to the south and ends at the entrance of the environmental lab.

A great place for an evening hike. Very flat trail with the exception of the Boardwalk which is down from a ridge.
